Stephen Ministry is a complete system of training and organizing lay persons for service in care ministry. This program equips members to provide quality Christian care so that fewer of those in need “fall between the cracks.” Members interested in becoming Stephen Ministers receive specific training for such service from a team of trained Stephen Ministers. Once trained, Stephen Ministers provide ongoing Christian care to people experiencing a wide range of life needs or crisis including: hospitalization, terminal illness, bereavement, disabilities, handicaps, aging, job crisis, loneliness, inactivity, shut-in and homebound, spiritual crisis, and new membership.
Beginning September 5, 2017, we are planning to train a new group of Stephen Ministers.
Currently St. John’s has approximately 20 trained Stephen Ministry Caregivers, half of whom are actively serving. We have identified at least 20 more people in our congregation who would benefit from our Stephen Ministry program. So the time is right to train a new team of caregivers.
Our Stephen Ministry program operates under the umbrella of St. John’s Care Ministry which is overseen by Pastor Dave Kellerman and daily directed by Pastor Cal Seban.
Are you a caring person looking for more opportunities to serve? Prayerfully consider attending our training sessions this fall.
