Luke 10:2: Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Have you ever wondered what this 10 day mission trip looks like?  Let us take a moment to share with you just the basics.  It takes about 2 days to travel from the States to India.  Once the team arrives in India, they spend the next 6 days visiting with local churches, praying over people, teaching children about Jesus at Bethania Kids, (one of St. John’s partners in ministry), and just caring for people along the way.  Another 2 days travel back to the States.  The days begin around 5:00AM and the team does not go to bed until midnight.  From sun up to well after sun down, the mission team is engaged with people and sharing the love of Christ.  Praise God for our India Mission Team!

Becky Augustine, St. John’s Assistant Director of Children’s Ministries, listed some of her special memories regarding the India Mission Trip.

Sharing Psalm 23 with the kids…it was their favorite!

Listening to the children speak, sing and recite their favorite bible verses.

Talking and playing games with the care providers and children at Bethania.  We all found wisdom and encouragement in what each other were doing.  It was inspiring to see the love of God in their eyes.

Spending time with the women of India.  We were able to shop with the ladies to find the right saree.  We also had our left hands beautifully painted with Hena by the younger women.

As a mission team, we saw the beauty of God’s creation in the midst of sadness and hurt.

We ate a lot of delicious Indian food and coffee and had moments of quite – intimate conversation.

We were so loved and cared for by the adults and children of Bethania.

From the new friends we made at airports to visiting our family in India, during those 10 short days God blessed us immensely.  Our eyes were opened to how amazing our GOD IS!  When can we go back?!  There is so much work to be done in India…on airplanes…in airports…during car rides….but there is also much work to be done here in America…on airplanes…in airports…at Sonshine Community Park…and right here at St. John’s.
