Welcome Pastor David and Samantha Nieman

Call Day 2017, at both Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, included around 100 pastoral candidates receiving their first call to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. A placement committee, assembled from the 35 presidents of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, worked with the Placement Directors at each Seminary to slot candidates and present them to the Council of Presidents for approval. God answers prayers. Through the Will of the Father, and by the grace, mercy, and peace of our Savior Jesus Christ, Pastor David Nieman has been assigned and accepted the call as Associate Pastor to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend, Wisconsin. Praise God for revealing His will for St. John’s.
Pastor Nieman will serve as a generalist, preaching and teaching the Word of God. He will also oversee youth ministry, young adult ministry, and family ministry. He has indicated a passion for family ministry, youth and young adult ministry, and pastoral care of all ages. He and his wife Samantha, who has a BA in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, Seward, are lifelong members of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We prayerfully await their arrival and rejoice in the assurance that God’s Will has been fulfilled.
Pastor Nieman will spend the first six months getting to know the family of St. John’s and the community of West Bend. He will start to develop a vision for the ministries that fall under his oversite, as well as learning the mission and vision of St. John’s and how we live out this mission of Connecting, Caring, and Sharing in Christ, as well as “Discipleship in as many places as possible.”
When Jesus presented Himself to the disciples after the resurrection, Thomas only believed after he touched the wounds of Christ. Jesus met him where he was with the powerful Gospel message. We welcome Pastor Nieman to proclaim the resurrection and forgiveness of Christ and the Gospel to St. John’s and the community of West Bend, meeting us where we are. Please continue to pray for Pastor Nieman and Samantha.
