Thank you for Supporting Our Youth

THANK YOU, St. John’s family and community for supporting our Senior High Youth who will be attending the National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN next July, through our Fall Clean-up fundraiser. With the help of our youth, parents, and leaders, we spent over 177 hours helping
Connect, Care, and Share in Christ with families in need of yard clean-up.

Some members gifted neighbors or friends with the help from our youth. Beyond joyfully sharing their services, many youth shared their stories with recipients and made connections with the people they served. In turn, our recipients were more than grateful for the help they received and generously provided support of our youth.

In all, we raised $2,500. Praise God for His generous gifts to help our youth.
Thank you, St. John’s family!

Join us for an afternoon of discipleship in the community. Our Community Caroling is a time for families and people of all ages to bless our neighbors by going door to door and singing Christmas songs and hymns. Meet at St. John’s at 3:30 PM and return by 5:00 PM to enjoy some hot chocolate. Groups will move through the neighborhoods surrounding our campus, meet our neighbors, bless them with song, share our Christmas service times, and move on our way. This is an outdoor event, so please dress accordingly. Song sheets of our favorite Christmas hymns will be provided.

We are bringing this event back to support our “Sweet Sixteen” 2019 Dinner Auction. The plate you decorate, along with the dessert, will be a part of our Silent Auction. On the night of the auction, the winning bidder will receive both the plate and dessert and can decide if the dessert will be enjoyed that evening and shared with friends or taken home to devour.

There is no fee for this fun painting event!
St. John’s Auction Committee and Creative License are covering the costs of the event.

Painting will be on Tuesday, January 22, from 5PM – 9PM at Creative License in Hartford, WI. There are only 16 spots available for this unique opportunity, so we
are looking for 16 people to join us and paint a plate

No need to be creative.  Plenty of ideas are available at Creative License. Feel free to bring your own ideas and patterns.  Paints, tools, stamps, and stencils will be provided. Angela, owner of Creative License, will be there to guide you.

All plates will remain at Creative License to be “fired,” and the auction committee will take care of picking them up when finished.

All painted plates are the property of St. John’s and will be auctioned off WITH a dessert at the auction.

If you sign up to paint a plate, you will need to provide a dessert for the evening of the auction. Partnering with someone to create a dessert for you could be a great way to connect with another member of St. John’s.

You can sign up for the Dessert Dash by using the St. John’s App or by emailing Julie Buss at
JulieBuss64@gmail.com
. Spots are limited to the first 16 artists who sign up. Questions/Concerns, contact Julie Buss.

The King is Coming

This is a season of anticipation.

“Merry Christmas” may be the phrase on our minds, but maybe “The King is Coming” would be even better!

The word “advent” means “coming.”

As we gather in worship through the weekends in Advent, we take special pause to be focused on this promise; He came and He will return.

As we gather around His Word and Gifts this advent season, we prepare our hearts with the prayer “Come quickly, Lord Jesus.”

We gather together in worship each week with joyful expectation, asking “What Child is This?” as we prepare our hearts not only to celebrate His birth at Christmas, but also as we continue to prepare our hearts for His coming again. Come, be strengthened and encouraged by God’s Word this advent season!

Missions

Milwaukee Rescue Mission

For the past ten years, St. John’s West Bend has been Connecting, Caring, and Sharing in Christ with the
Milwaukee Rescue Mission. We have had over 100 people volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to help clean, serve lunch, and give canned goods and car loads of clothing for all ages.
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission has been helping to restore lives through God’s grace since 1893, helping women, children, and men who are homeless, suffering from addiction, or just in need of some help. Before each meal, there is a time for songs, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, and prayer. Every person that has spent time helping has said that they get way more than they give when they serve the homeless, in Christ, at Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
Here are upcoming ways to support our partnership with Milwaukee Rescue Mission:
February 2nd, 9am-1pm – Serve Food
March 9th, 9am-1pm – Serve Food and Clean
April 13th, 9am-1pm – Serve Food and Clean
Donate Goods – Nonperishable Food or Clothing
