Relationships matter! Have you ever felt alone, drifting in a sea of faces? Have you ever felt lost or detached? Now’s your time to connect with a Life Group!
Connections matter! Connections make us stronger, give us purpose, and help us grow. Whether you’re currently a group leader, interested in becoming a leader, looking to start a new group, or interested in joining a group, this is your opportunity to be strengthened, equipped, and prepared for connecting through a Life Group.
What is a Life Group, you ask? What opportunities for connections are available at St. John’s? How do I start connecting in a Life Group?
Join us Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 9:25 am in the school gym to learn more about connecting with a Life Group. Also, SAVE THE DATE and join us for the St. John’s Connections Fair, Sunday, February 24, 2019.
Our life together is Real, Relevant, and Relational . . . together we are the body of Christ!
We are bringing this event back to support our “Sweet Sixteen” 2019 Dinner Auction. The plate you decorate, along with the dessert, will be a part of our Silent Auction. On the night of the auction, the winning bidder will receive both the plate and dessert and can decide if the dessert will be enjoyed that evening and shared with friends or taken home to devour.
There is no fee for this fun painting event! St. John’s Auction Committee and Creative License are covering the costs of the event.
Painting will be on Tuesday, January 22, from 5PM – 9PM at Creative License in Hartford, WI. There are only 16 spots available for this unique opportunity, so we are looking for 16 people to join us and paint a plate.
No need to be creative. Plenty of ideas are available at Creative License. Feel free to bring your own ideas and patterns. Paints, tools, stamps, and stencils will be provided. Angela, owner of Creative License, will be there to guide you.
All plates will remain at Creative License to be “fired,” and the auction committee will take care of picking them up when finished.
All painted plates are the property of St. John’s and will be auctioned off WITH a dessert at the auction.
If you sign up to paint a plate, you will need to provide a dessert for the evening of the auction. Partnering with someone to create a dessert for you could be a great way to connect with another member of St. John’s.
You can sign up for the Dessert Dash by using the St. John’s App or by emailing Julie Buss at JulieBuss64@gmail.com . Spots are limited to the first 16 artists who sign up. Questions/concerns, contact Julie Buss.
The Church Basement Ladies’ newest production is here! You betcha! Tickets are $40. We will meet at church prior and carpool for those interested. Please contact the church office by Jan. 4th, 2019 to sign up. If you have any questions – please contact Denise Seibel at firstname.lastname@example.org or 262-412-0941.
Bunching Your Contributions to Receive a Greater Tax Benefit
The tax law changes in 2018 almost doubled the individual and married couple standard deduction. It is estimated that more than 30% of tax filers itemized their deductions prior to 2018. One recommendation is to “bunch” your gifts for 2019 by using a gifting vehicle called a Donor Advised Fund. Click Here to see the new deductions rates and how a Donor Advised Fund could help support your charitable intent.
For the past ten years, St. John’s West Bend has been Connecting, Caring, and Sharing in Christ with the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. We have had over 100 people volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to help clean, serve lunch, and give canned goods and car loads of clothing for all ages.
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission has been helping to restore lives through God’s grace since 1893, helping women, children, and men who are homeless, suffering from addiction, or just in need of some help. Before each meal, there is a time for songs, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, and prayer. Every person that has spent time helping has said that they get way more than they give when they serve the homeless, in Christ, at Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
Here are upcoming ways to support our partnership with Milwaukee Rescue Mission:

Officer Brandon Knepprath of the West Bend Police Department will be here to share statistics, educate on unseen dangers, and empower parents to be part of their child’s screen time activities.
Childcare will be available. Please RSVP for childcare by online form, or call the school office at 262-334-3077.
