Stewardship
Christian Stewardship is the free and joyous activity of the child of God, and God's family, the church, in managing all of life and life's resources. Included here are a number of wonderful resources, processes, and opportunities to get involved with your church family and life of stewardship.
Check out the recent sermon series Consecrated Stewards; Life as His Creature.
Commitment Cards
We will once again be celebrating life together as Consecrated Stewards through our commitment card process. We will celebrate this discipleship process the weekend of April 2 & 3, 2011. A letter, along with your 1st Quarter Statement, will be going out the first week of April, to assist you in this act of devotion to our loving Lord. We are asking that all the commitment cards be brought back to St. John's by Easter weekend. Easter weekend, we will together, celebrate the blessings He has given all of us, and the victory we have through Christ Jesus and His victory over sin and death.
Some of our members have asked, "What does First Fruit giving look like for my family?" We have created a resource tool for you to use to assist in answering that question. God patiently instructs "modern day disciples" of Jesus in stewardship. We do not give to St. John's rather, we give to the Lord and praise Him who blesses us with everything we need.
Estate Planning -- Planning Your Legacy of Faith
Having a plan is important. Do you know an estimated 70% of Americans do not even have a will. Seasons of life change, and part of lifelong discipleship is proper planning. Do you have questions regarding a Power of Attorney for Healthcare and/or Finances, a Living Turst, Guardians for Minor Children, Probate Court, etc. Your St. John's church family can provide you education and tools to assist you with this wonderful process.
Financial Education -- Managing God's Resources
Let's face it, this is hard work! It is easy to say we are managers of God's gifts to us, but it is difficult to put into practice. Whether you have your financial house in order, are struggling to put together a budget, or just have questions regarding being a steward, St. John's is here to walk with you. Your church provides a variety of tools and resources to assist you.
One of the tools we use is Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Many of our members have gone through the couse and found it to be helpful, not only in establishing a budget, but also a deeper appreciate of what it means to "live like no one else." We would like to host another class, if you are interested, please contact Craig Toerpe.
Please contact your Director of Stewardship & Gifting, Craig Toerpe if you have any questions or comments.
