Mark's Gospel takes a turn of sorts in chapter 8.  After Mark has narrated the saving work of the Kingdom of God - Jesus - for eight chapters, we find the disciples still talking among themselves and not understanding what Jesus is doing or teaching.  Jesus appears to take two tries to heal a blind man.  Mark once again shows us that Jesus alone saves us, and it is always in his own timing - not ours.  Christians rely in Jesus as Our Portion.
