THE CROSS - here we encounter the focus of Mark's Gospel.  The scene has been set with Jesus hanging on a cross, the disciples no where to be found, and all around him insulting and doubting him.  Here is the final meeting of Jesus versus the world.  To all worldly appearances, Jesus failed miserably.  To all in faith, Jesus died for you.  Sin is real, our lives are messed up but Jesus, the Son of God, died for you.  As people of faith we believe in and follow our Lord Jesus.  This is the gift from God which we experience and live out together.
