We are ... a mess
All we have to bring into God's creation is sin. That's it... We ahve made a mess of his creation and the entire world suffers accordingly. You have nothing else to offer but sin. This is a painful reality to come to grips with, yet we can't ignore it because sin is real and it's more persuasive, intrusive, and deadly than we are capable of ever knowing. In fact every second of life is lived immersed in it and dealing with its consequences. The best case scenario for us is that God rescues us and we are free from the damnation it brings as we live our entire life making a mess of things as we struggle against it.
The Good News is that God has dealt with sin despite you. You are a mess, but you are God's mess. Salvation doesn't require your participation. You have nothing to do with it. He has done it all. God chose to deal with sin by nailing it to the cross and this is our salvation as it comes to us in relief, hope, and peace as we live in our mess.
