What is the Red Letter Challenge (RLC)? It is a 40 day personal devotion on the words of Jesus. In addition, you will get more out of doing the RLC by being in a “Life Group” and share your journey with others.
How do I get a book? After each service for the next four weeks, you may sign up for one free book as a family.
How much is an extra book? If you want more than one, it will cost $20 per book. There are kids books for $20 as well.
Is RLC mandatory? NO, but we feel it is extremely helpful for your spiritual growth.
How do I sign up for a “RLC Life Group?” Come to the October 13 Connection Fair at 9:25 AM in the school gym.
What are the different options for a “RLC Life Group?” There will be plenty of opportunities for you to sign up. Examples include, but are not limited to: Group Text, Video On-line, Discipleship Hour, 10:45 AM on Sundays after the 9:30 AM services, Facebook, Families, Multi-families. Come to Oct 13th Connection Fair!
Can I do RLC all by myself? Yes, but we highly recommend sharing your journey with others each week in a Life Group.
When do we start the RLC as a church? We will start with a Sermon Series on October 20.
Can we do the RLC as a family? Yes!
Will Kids Discipleship Hour do it the same time as the adults? Yes, they will talk and learn the same as the adults.
What can I expect on Sunday, October 13 at the Connection Fair? Many Ministries will be there so you can learn about them and sign up if you are interested. There will also be a brief overview on what, and how, we are going to go through the 40-day Red Letter Challenge and over 30 minutes for you to fill out a sheet, ask questions, and sign up for a Life Group.
How long is the RLC? It is a 40-day challenge.
If I have questions, where do I go for answers? Look in our Connection E-Newsletter, the St. John’s App, website, call the church office at 262-334-4901, or contact Alan Lull (firstname.lastname@example.org) & Cheryl Rudolf (email@example.com).
Who will lead the RLC group? There will be NO leader. We will have a person facilitate each RLC Life Group and you will learn of the facilitator by October 20. Each facilitator will be supported by the Connection Task Force and pastors.
Will Facilitators get any tools to help them? Yes. They will receive a DVD, RLC “rules,” and options for questions to help them get the groups sharing.
Mark your calendars and SAVE THE DATE. Sun., October 13th 9:25-10:30 AM!
Letter from Pastor Dorth
Please remain in prayer for Pastor Dorth and his family, the family of St. John’s, and the family of Island Lutheran Church. We know that His Will Is What’s Best and trust that the Lord will reveal His will for the ministry of both churches and Pastor Dorth’s lifelong commitment as a shepherd for the Lord.
This week in worship we close out our series on the Three Truths. As we worship, we turn to God’s Word:
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. -John 17:17,18
Receiving the echo of God’s identity as Owner, Rescuer, and Leader, He send’s us with these simple yet profound truths upon our tongues; It’s All His, He Saves, and His Will is What’s Best. The truth of God is inseparable to His identity, in as much as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is inseparable from one another. Come and be reminded of how you have been joined to God’s truth, as those who are sent to live in His truth.
Join us in worship as we continue the conversation.
You are invited to join us for mid-week Bible studies on Wednesday and Thursday mornings or the break-out sessions in Discipleship Hour (9:25am in the School Gym) as we dig deeper into The Three Truths. Call the church office at (262) 334-4901 for details.
