Tithes and First Fruit Offerings

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. – Malachi 3:10

“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself.” – Matthew 6:32-34a

Weekly tithes and first fruit offerings support the mission and vision of St. John’s. We do not give to fulfill a budget, rather because God tells us to. We give to the Lord, and the Lord in turn blesses St. John’s. St. John’s leadership manages the gifts faithfully thereby allowing us to fulfill our mission of Connecting, Caring and Sharing in Christ.

REACH…May Our Love Increase

REACH is the current capital stewardship campaign that has engaged the faith family of St. John’s since Fall of 2012. To date, over 70% of the congregation has participated, and together we have raised $2.85 million of our 3.34 million in pledges. Praise God.

How does a Christian make a decision regarding making a financial commitment to a capital stewardship campaign (or any other special offering for that matter)? It’s an excellent questions which deserves a person’s thought and consideration. Frankly, there is no perfect way of doing so, but because we believe giving generously for the cause of Christ, is essential to our lives, as well as, for the sake of the Church.

Maybe you are new to St. John’s, or did not have the ability to participate in REACH. It’s not too late. If you are member wondering about your pledge, would like to continue your pledge, or just have some general questions, you are encouraged to speak with Craig Toerpe, Director of Stewardship and Gifting at 262-334-4901 or email ctoerpe@stjohnswestbend.org

St. John’s West Bend Foundation

The mission statement of the St. John’s West Bend Foundation is to, “Advance and Support the Mission and Vision of St. John’s for Today’s and Tomorrow’s Generations.” We exist to advance the mission and ministries of ST. John’s in ways that are above and beyond the normal general budget of the congregation.

The St. John’s Foundation has been established to assist families in their walk of Stewardship is Discipleship…Discipleship is Stewardship. We believe every family should have a Lifetime Stewardship Plan. These discussions center on wills and living trusts, which includes guardianship for minors, and powers of attorney for medical and financial affairs. These Lifetime Stewardship conversations also help families develop a Family Blessing or Legacy Letter. In addition, we want to help families developing meaningful ways to transfer blessings to support both family and ministries at large.

The Foundation has recognized six designated areas of ministry:

  1. Missions
  2. Christian Education & Discipleship
  3. Campus Care
  4. Partners in Ministry
  5. Designated REACH Funds
  6. Undesignated
