“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 11:28
St. John’s retreat ministry is an opportunity for various collections and generations of people to experience God’s gift of restoration through His Word, fun activities, and the people of God in life together. St. John’s offers four retreats throughout the calendar year. Our retreats seek to balance the time in study and worship as well as in recreation and activity. Each retreat gives ample opportunity for participants to benefit from applicable teaching and impactful connections made through the weekend. See below for a brief summary of each of the retreats and check our calendar and events page for more information as each approach.
Marriage is the Lord’s building block of the family from the beginning (Matt. 19:4-6), and St. John’s is committed to investing in marriages through the Couples’ Retreat Ministry. Each year, usually around Valentine’s Day, married couples are invited to a fine resort for a weekend of social events/fellowship with other couples, to escape the business of life and re-connect as a couple, and to learn and grow together in God’s word in a relaxed, relational, and real way. This retreat fits most budgets (grants are available to those in need) and is really fun. The Couples’ Retreat is led by a dedicated committee who loves to serve in this important retreat ministry. Join us and be blessed by God through His word and His people while exploring God’s creation, fine shops, and amazing restaurants. Ephesians 4:12 - “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”
The 2022 St. John’s Men’s Retreat is all about how we have been equipped by God to not only serve Him, but to build up His people and grow His Kingdom. What if the journey God is leading isn’t best served by running every checklist of what to bring, but actually taking inventory of what God has already packed and prepared for you at this very moment? What if the project God has laid in front of you has all the right parts and tools, but are spread out among the people you live in community with everyday?
Equipped! This year's retreat is about that “journey” and that “project”, and even more so, the God who is faithful to prepare and lead you through it all. Join us May 20-22, 2022 in Camp Luther in Three Lakes, Wisconsin.

Hebrews 10:25 calls us to “not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing.” In verse 39 we're reminded that "we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls." We’re called to be in “Courageous Relationships” with God and one another. But as burdens and tasks build up it is easy to isolate or at least hide part of ourselves. The woman at the well was also pretty good at hiding. She went to the well at a time of day when she was sure to be alone. But Jesus met her there and had a conversation that changed everything. We will look closely at that interaction and talk about how God meets us where we are at and gives us the courage to be vulnerable. We will also practice some fruitful conversation skills that will equip us for mentoring relationships in our homes and in the broader community.
Come away with your sisters in Christ to beautiful Green Lake, Wisconsin. Come and be blessed as we meet together, pray together, laugh together, and simply learn to “be” together. “Together” can’t happen without you there, so set aside September 23-25 and be sure to register by July 17 (this is the date the venue requests that we release any rooms that haven’t been spoken for). This retreat is for you and your friends and family, members of St. John’s or not. There is a special discount for young women in high school through age 21, and scholarship opportunities for those who need it. Don’t let finances keep you from experiencing what the Lord has to offer you that weekend. Don’t let the busyness of the world we live in keep you from experiencing the blessings God has to offer you at this weekend away.
