SONSHINE COMMUNITY PARK

Sonshine Community Park

Sonshine Community Park is one way St. John’s West Bend continues to give back to our community by Providing Wholesome Family Recreation in the Heart of the City. The park is located on the south side of St. John’s School. Families are welcome to bring their children when school is not in session.

UNIQUE FEATURES

  • The diverse playground equipment gives children many options for climbing, bouncing, sliding, swinging, and balancing.

  • The Celebrating Families Fence is constructed around three-quarters of the playground area to assist parents in “keeping an eye” on their children.

  • The padded playground surface is safer for children.

  • Soccer and softball athletic fields are open to the community.

  • A patio with benches is located near the playground.

HISTORY

When St. John’s expanded and built our Early Childhood Center in 2013, the old playground had to be removed. For 50 years, the original St. John’s playground was enjoyed by our school children and by children living in the Hawthorn and Decorah neighborhoods. We knew building a larger, safer Sonshine Community Park would benefit the entire community, while providing a great place for discipleship. We are grateful for the many community organizations and businesses that partnered with us to create Sonshine Community Park.
